Information Sessions
My Housing Options information sessions and workshops
Free information sessions and workshops are being held to inform people about the My Housing Options toolkit and how to use it.
These sessions are for:
- People with disability
- Organisations and workers who support people with disability
- Their families and supporters
Sessions will be delivered in person and online across metropolitan, regional and rural Queensland.
About these information sessions and workshops
Queenslanders with Disability Network (QDN) and people with disability are co-delivering these sessions and workshops.
Who should attend
- people with disability, their families and supporters
- housing providers
- disability and community sector organisations
- advocacy organisations
- government departments and statutory bodies
- staff working in mainstream services like health, housing, justice, corrections.
Facilitators
The information sessions and workshops are facilitated by individuals with lived experience of disability who have diverse housing backgrounds, ensuring sessions are relevant, accessible and responsive to a variety of needs.
Learning outcomes
Attendees will learn how to:
- use the My Housing Options toolkit and workbook
- explore what’s important in a home, including location, residents, supports available and costs
- explore different housing options when first preferences are not immediately available
- build confidence to plan housing pathways at any stage of the housing journey.
Attendees will learn how to:
- strengthen skills in person-centred housing conversations
- learn how to support planning, manage complex discussions and align practice with inclusive principles
- use inclusive tools and resources to support people with disability on their housing journey.
